Heir property is property that is inherited from someone else. After a person dies, if they owned property, some family members may decide to move into the property without properly addressing the legal title or registration of the property. The property must be properly transferred to the right person(s) to whom the property was given to by a will or otherwise. Simply paying the property taxes does NOT show or establish ownership. There is a specific legal process that must take place to get the property transferred or recorded in the name of the rightful owner(s).
As part of the Ford Good Neighbor Plan, Vision Haywood County is proud to work with local lawyers helping individuals who request this service and qualify for the program. The service will be available to residents who live within a 15-mile radius of the Blue Oval City plant in Stanton, TN in Tipton, Haywood and Fayette Counties or, in certain cases, where the property is located in the same area.
This program is for very low income and low-income families. For more information on this program, please contact Vision Haywood County at 731-780-1785 or complete the request for assistance form below.
